Cloud Services / Big Data

Over the past 5 years, Cloud services have been steadily maturing and we now feel that there is no better time than the present to start migrating your business to the cloud if you haven’t already and Angry Koala can help at every step of the way.

Why migrate some or all of your data to the cloud ?

Flexibility – You will have the ability to scale up and scale down your cloud capacity based on changing business demands giving your business enhanced operational agility.

Disaster recovery – Let someone else take care of the costly business of disaster recovery. Most cloud providers have a level of automated backup with the ability to purchase more if required.

Software updates – Never worry again about the hassle of updating all your software and making sure everything works. The cloud will take care of it automatically.

No up-front capital required – Why purchase a ton of hardware at great cost that will be out of date in 6 months when you can rent time on the very latest hardware without buying anything. All without hiring an army of system administrators to take care of it all.

Work from anywhere – When your whole business is in the cloud, you and your employees can work from anywhere where there is an internet connection. Your employees will love the ability to telecommute, and with the better work/life balance they will probably be more productive.

Personal Computer Security – Your employees will store their corporate data in the cloud meaning there is very little sensitive data left on their precious laptops. When they crash, get lost or are stolen, your precious data is safe, and your employees will be back to work in no time.

Competitiveness – The cloud allows small businesses to behave like a large business. With enterprise-class technology and scalability, your small business can build a service which compete on a level playing field with the big boys and also quickly adapt to changes in the market.

Microsoft Azure

Azure is technology independent cloud service which consists of hundreds of technological building blocks which you can play around with like Lego to build disruptive new services or just simply move your business piece by piece into the cloud.

The daunting diagram below (click on it to enlarge) shows most of the current capabilities of Azure, and as you can imagine, like traveling to a foreign country, having a guide like Angry Koala will be essential. We can help with design, architecture and transformation of your business onto the Azure platform.

Big Data & IOT

As business continues to become more paperless and every aspect becomes track-able via sensors and sophisticated scanning technology, the opportunity for companies to collect and analyse every tiny piece of data increases. To accomplish this you will need an ever increasing amount of storage.

As the storage space gets into the 100’s of Terabytes of text, image and other forms of data, the need for specialized data structures become necessary together with a system of clustered processing to split up the work.

Microsoft offers a range of solutions to this problem via HDInsight on Azure platform. This gives customers a virtual Hadoop system running in the Cloud together with all its associated facilities such as HDFS, Hive, Spark etc. This also enables you to do some large scale data crunching such as that required by data science and prediction.

The so called Internet of Things (IOT) is the name given to internet connected small devices such as smart fridges, meters, air conditioners etc. You can collect this data via the Event Hub or IOT Hub services in Azure, process the data as it arrives using Azure Streaming Analytics and then store the parts you want to keep off into various Azure Data Structures.
